Henk Hesselink, Netherlands Aerospace Center
Henk has been employed at NLR for over 25 years now. His current position is R&D manager innovation, related to aerospace operations. He has been working as analyst and project manager on decision support systems for fighter pilots and air traffic controllers, among others.
Henk studied artificial intelligence and information technology at the University of Groningen in The Netherlands and the work he has done has always been related to investigating and deployment of intelligent systems.
He is involved in writing policy documents and roadmap developments for both The Netherlands and for international and European agencies. He was involved in the Aviation Knowledge and Innovation Agenda for The Netherlands and was a member of the European Steering Group for development of drone programs. He is consultant to several European agencies.
Henk is the originator of the Endless Runway and led the international team that further developed the idea of a circular runway that is now getting world-wide attention.
